The One Life Workshop Series is an after school program dedicated to encourage, develop, and sharpen creative writing skills for middle and high school students. One Life provides students with artist mentors who guide them through poetry and performance based workshops utilizing the various elements of Hip-Hop. This program’s goal is to provoke self-disclosure and critical thought amongst students.

The improvement of reading, writing & comprehension skills.

Inspiring internal & external affirmation. Validating the lives of young artists and the stories they have to tell.

Promoting a sense of belonging between young artists and artist mentors.

Providing a safe space for creative and artistic community.

The JVN Project is a collective centered on using the genre and culture of Hip-Hop as a tool of empowerment. It is an organization instituted by students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison inspired by the life of 19-year- old Chicagoan artist and UW-Madison student John Vietnam Nguyễn - emcee, poet, dancer, music engineer, and activist.
